Barcode Scanners vs Barcode Verifiers

Barcode verifiers are used to measure barcode quality. All barcode symbologies are subject to specifications (GenSpec) which determine the limits that apply to barcode dimensions, encodation and printed characteristics.

Barcode scanners are designed to read any barcode that meets the specifications.

Some barcode scanners are designed so that they can successfully read barcodes which fall outside of the allowed tolerances, we all want quick scanning at the till don't we?.

However, the standards exist to ensure that ALL barcodes which meet the specifications can be scanned by ALL readers that also comply with the published standard.
